Havanese and its Health.........
Havanese Health

Comparatively the Havanese breed is relatively healthy, we do have some
inherited health issues but above all as a whole the Havanese community is
very dedicated and therefore perhaps more vocal and aware of the things
that have affected some of our dogs.
The following list include some health related problems found in our breed
that you should become aware of. In parenthesis you will find a practical
method of detection.

Cardiac (Ausculation or dopler if necessary)
Cataracts (Make sure you CERF annually)
Chondrodysplasia (soaped up pics and/or x-rays)
Deafness (BAER testing is available)
Hip Dysplasia (X-ray & Vet Exam)
Legg Calve-Perthes (Vet Exam & X-ray)
Liver Shunt (bile acid blood testing)
Patellar Luxation (i.e. slipped kneecap) (Vet Exam & X-ray)
