The Havanese is extremely affectionate, very devoted and always entertaining.
They are intelligent and robust which makes them extremely good agility dogs.  As
natural show-offs and clowns, they are often the center of attention.  They can be
mischevious at times, love shredding paper, playing catch me if you can, but
rarely destroy anything of value.  They thrive on human companionship, and do
not fair well if left alone for long periods of time. If raised with children they will be
playful yet gentle. (A small child should always be supervised with any breed of
dog). Although all puppies while teething are bitey and not ideal for small or
sensitive children.

The Havanese can be a good watch-dog, because of their alert demeanor and
close relationship with their family. They will bark at strange noises, but are not
constant barkers.

This long lived, very special little dog can bring years of love and loyalty when
treated with the kindness and love they so deserve.

Even though the Havanese is a small breed actually classified as a toy breed,
they are not a tiny, fragile dog. There is quite a range in size that averages
anywhere from 7-15 lbs. Although small in stature the Havanese are they are
muscular and extremely athletic (they used to be used as circus dogs in Europe).
They are very lively and possess great stamina. Most Havanese take quite
naturally to the water and love to swim.
