The Independent Havanese Club is a non profit organization
dedicated to all aspects of the Havanese, with particular
emphasis on the role of that sweet-natured diminutive canine in
the home, where it is loved and cherished as a companion.
We trace our history back to 1998 when a number of its
members found discontent with the focus of the official
Havanese club toward the show circuit and breeding. This
attention on showing and breeding tended to exclude the
Havanese personality and function as a pet.
So the club was formed for the specific purpose of providing
information on a broad variety of aspects surrounding the dog,
but placing particular emphasis on the Havanese as a pet and
cherished companion, the basic role of all canines.
Our membership is international, but our focus will always be
directed toward one goal : Our Beloved Havanese.
